Hello! Thank you for being here, I appreciate you.
I first discovered the benefits of practicing art as an anxious teen, painting my feelings onto a canvas in my closet. It was through this medium that I was able to express myself. Talking through my emotions wasn't always comfortable, but creating put me at ease and gave me the relief I was craving. Dozens of paint-covered towels, and several years later, I began college to study Graphic Design. In a twist of fate, I took a college course where I learned about Positive Psychology. Positive Psychology encourages us to lean into what makes us happiest and to do more of these activities, enhancing our daily quality of life. It brings positivity into our lives through the cultivation of gratitude and joy. A light bulb went off. I love creating, connecting with people on a deeper level, and Positive Psychology. From that point on, I decided to combine my passions for Creativity and Positive Psychology to help others in a fun, out-of-the-box approach to therapy. With my knowledge of creativity, I needed more concrete ways to help, so I decided to pursue a Masters of Arts and Counseling to further my skills.
After completing my program in 2018, I worked at College Living Experience, where I first experienced working with members of the Neurodivergent community. CLE supported young adults on the Autism Spectrum, ADHD, and other exceptionalities to transition into college life. Creating with various forms of media is at the core of connecting with my clients and getting buy-in. After gaining more experience with CLE as a Social Coach, Executive Functioning Coach, and Independent Living Skills Coach, I felt my passion expanding into something bigger. In early 2020, I decided to establish a private practice, and that's how JOY Creative Counseling and Wellness was born.
At JOY, I use a Creative and Holistic approach that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Unconditional Positive Regard to meet the unique needs of my clients. I am committed to meeting clients where they are, accepting them fully, and pulling from their strengths to help create the best route to an optimal therapeutic experience.
Please reach out directly if I can answer any questions. I can't wait to cultivate JOY with you!
